Well hello there! I’m Yogi as in Yogi Bear. I guess I was named that because I was found abandoned in a Wyoming state park. As you can see, I’m really a Golden Retriever – not a bear – but I’m just as soft and cuddly as your favorite Teddy Bear. I guess my family thought a state park would be a good place to leave me since they didn’t want me anymore, but boy were they wrong! That was a very dangerous place, and a family pet like me is pretty defenseless against wild animals and the elements. It was really scary! My rescuers took me to the shelter where I was left unclaimed.
I’m quite thin, pretty much deaf and had a bad case of pneumonia, but I’m very lucky to have been saved by the kind folks at GRRR. I guess I should mention something else kind of embarrassing – I had a nasty foxtail embedded in my testicle. It was soooooooooooo painful (you have no idea!) and I chewed off a bunch of hair on my rear end trying to get to it. I also had a tumor in my testicle, but being neutered removed that (and the foxtail) before it spread. Because of the surgery and the medications for the pneumonia, I’m feeling so much better now.
Everyone is guessing I’m at least 10 years old. All my life I’ve been a super lovable fellow who wants nothing more than to love my people and be loved (and cared for) in return. I want to have someone touching me all the time, and I’m truly the most adorable Golden you’ll ever meet. When the nice lady was taking my pictures, I kept trying to crawl in her lap. I’m starved for love and attention, and for the first time I’m getting plenty of it. I’m so grateful for the wonderful foster home where I’m staying and everything GRRR and the Golden Angel Fund are doing to help me.
My foster family says I’m very sweet and extra special. I can always be found proudly carrying at least two tennis balls around in my mouth (there weren’t many tennis balls in Wyoming). I’m going to make the most wonderful companion ever for someone. I miraculously survived my ordeal and have come a long way to find my forever family. If you're interested in meeting me, it would be an honor!
I’m sending a great big thank you to GRRR and the wonderful people who donate to the Golden Angel Fund. Because of your kindness and support, I’m stronger and healthier now and I’ll soon become a member of a loving family and spend the rest of my life being loved and cared for like never before.
